Installation of box, OBD ports, and first trip.
Installation of Automile Box
The installation of the Automile Box is simple and requires neither tools nor technical knowledge.
1. Locate the vehicle's OBD2 port
The OBD2 port is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side. In some vehicles, it may also be placed behind a cover or in the center console.
2. Connect the Automile Box
Gently insert the Automile Box into the OBD2 port. When the device is properly connected, it will activate automatically.
3. Drive the vehicle
Drive the car for about 20 minutes to complete the initial synchronization. During this time, the box establishes connection with the mobile network and begins collecting data.
First trip
Trips are registered automatically when the vehicle starts driving.
The first trip may take slightly longer to appear in the system.
The trip is only displayed once it has been completed.
If no trip appears after driving:
Check that the box is properly connected.
Ensure that the vehicle has been driven long enough (at least about 20 minutes).
Lack of space or hidden OBD2 port
In some vehicles, the OBD2 port may be positioned in a tight or hard-to-reach spot.
In these cases, Automile offers an extension cable to make installation smoother.
Extension cables are provided free of charge if needed. Contact support if you require one.
Vehicle change
If the Automile Box is to be moved to another vehicle:
Disconnect the box from the old vehicle.
Connect it to the OBD2 port in the new vehicle.
Go to our website or mobile app and click on "Vehicles".
In the top right corner, you will find the button "Move device".
Fill in the form and click "Move device" to complete the process.
Troubleshooting during installation
If the Automile Box does not seem to work as expected:
Check that the box is fully inserted into the OBD2 port.
Drive the vehicle for at least 20 minutes to ensure connection and synchronization.
If problems persist, you are always welcome to contact our support.
Is Automile suitable for all vehicles?
Yes.
Our OBD devices fit most vehicle models. We also offer hardware that is installed directly on the battery for vehicles that lack a compatible OBD port.
